Today, we continued to work at the Eugene YSSAP Middle School in Ste. Anne. From nine o’clock to noon we taught English games and songs to 5ieme (7th grade), and answered questions with the 3ieme (9th grade.) For lunch, we ate sandwiches on the beach and had two hours of “free time”. In the afternoon we visited an afterschool program called “Agouti”. At Agouti, we talked with eight and nine year olds and then taught them “Doe, a Deer”. In return they taught us a traditional Creole song, traditional Guadeloupian dance – the Zouk, and we played games. We finished our day at the beach, and then returned to our host families for dinner and a much needed sleep. Everyone is doing well and having a great time.

Technology is amazing and we are so happy to be able to get a glimpse of what you all are doing. Would any of the boys like to post an entry? We mmet a woman who was born in Guadeloupe and lived there until she was seven. Everyone we talk to about the island says it is awesome.
ReplyDeleteHope you are all well and gaining something from this experience.
Is Patrick eating enough?
How is everyone doing with the homestay?
I assume you are all speaking French at least 90% of the time, as I need Grif to translate for me often...and this is a pretty international island!
Hugs to you all,
Cindy (and Paul and Grif)
Cole...how are you?
ReplyDeleteRyan...are you eating? Juhyun...we are counting on you for pics. Chris...you have been in almost every pic and I hope that means you are having fun. Having all those older bros pays off!
ReplyDeleteHope you girls are all well.
Please get a pic of the whole group (with Jennifer and Christope) and a bunch of the Guadeloupe students if the opportunity presents itself.
I love the pictures, I love the story of each day. It looks like a wonderful adventure. Thanks to each of you!
ReplyDeleteBe well.
Mary
It looks like you are having a great time as well as being useful in the Ste. Anne community. Keep up the good work. We are all very proud of you.
ReplyDeleteLet's see some more pictures posted in the blog.

Everyone looks so happy and the kids obviously adore the attention. What great representatives for IHS and Oregon. It would be great to see more photographs. How are the homestays? Chris, Nick and Zach are off watching NCAA games so they will probably email results to you. Nick is posting the standings so you're in the lead followed closely by Nick. I sent Jake and Katie the blog so they will probably send a comment or two. Tomorrow is Friday and the week has just zoomed by here in Eugene. I hope you will soak in every aspect of the adventure so you can remember all the kids, lessons and opportunities this trip has afforded all of you. Lucky, lucky kids ----aa
ReplyDeleteGlad to have this mechanism to learn about your activities and contributions to the community. Keep up the good work, and keep up the communications! We do like the pictures... Scott
ReplyDeleteI love all of the comments and pictures.
ReplyDeleteDespite all of our parental requests for pictures etc savor the moments and experience. Liz, let us know you are hydrated. Love you all. Anne
We are JEALOUS. It looks like you are having a lot of fun. This might take the prize for best community service ever. Thanks so much for pictures and updates, and although we know that CERTAIN individuals duck when the cameras come out, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to catch them on digital/film.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes and have more fun,
Julie & Jim
lets hear it for pics: they do tell a thousand words and give us a glimpse of your(s) adventure

ReplyDeleteJuhyun called yesterday and left a message. But I couldn't reach him back. His ATM card didn't work. I called BoA this morning and found that he was accessing wrong account. Please tell him to choose Savings Account to withdraw his money. Thank you, Chris for lending him money. I'm very proud of all of you.
